Four hill stations in ten days is possible, but only if you accept that travel eats part of every second day.
A workable order
- Days 1 to 2: Shimla. Mall Road, the ridge and a half day at Kufri or Mashobra.
- Days 3 to 5: Manali. Old Manali, Hadimba temple and a day to Solang or Sissu. Rohtang is closed in winter.
- Days 6 to 7: Dharamshala and McLeod Ganj. Tibetan culture, cafes and the Dhauladhar views.
- Days 8 to 9: Dalhousie and Khajjiar. Cedar forest and the meadow at Khajjiar.
- Day 10: drive out to your departure point.
Reality check. The hops between Manali and Dharamshala, and between Dalhousie and your exit city, are long mountain drives. Ask your driver or operator for the actual hours for each leg, and avoid sightseeing on the same day as the longest one.
Season notes. In winter, add a buffer day for snow, and check each road before you move. Outer hill stations stay open, but plans should stay flexible.
If it feels too packed, drop Dalhousie, or drop Shimla if you enter from Amritsar.
